Since 1998, AHL AL-KHALEEJ has been committed to providing rig site preparation services for drilling and workover locations on behalf of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) across the State of Kuwait.

Humble Beginnings

Our journey began with a contract from Kuwait Drilling Company to carry out civil works for two 1,500 HP drilling rigs. Our first project was executed at Location MN-085 in the Minagish Oil Field, West Kuwait — supported by a modest fleet of two wheel loaders, one motor grader, one vibratory roller, one bulldozer, one water tanker, and one low-bed trailer.

Through an unwavering commitment to quality, safety, and timely execution, AHL quickly earned the confidence of its clients. This early success led to additional contracts from Burgan Drilling Company and Santa Fe Drilling Company.

Rapid Expansion

Within the following three years, AHL took on the technically demanding construction of deep well locations for 3,000 HP drilling rigs — a leap that required significantly expanding our workforce, equipment fleet, and operational capabilities to keep pace with the growing number of drilling rigs across Kuwait.

Within a decade, AHL had secured contracts from a wide range of leading drilling contractors, establishing itself as one of Kuwait’s premier civil contractors specializing in drilling and workover rig site preparation. By 2010, AHL had become one of the country’s leading contractors for the construction of deep and development well locations, and was recognized as the only contractor in Kuwait providing complete rig site preparation services for deep well drilling operations.

International Growth

Between 2014 and 2016, the introduction of several new international drilling rigs into KOC’s operations marked another turning point for AHL. Our proven track record, technical expertise, and consistent service quality led to AHL being awarded the civil works for all newly introduced drilling rigs — including rig-up yard construction and associated civil infrastructure — cementing our position as Kuwait’s leading contractor in this field.

KOC Main Contractor Status

A major milestone came on 15 September 2022, when AHL received official approval from Kuwait Oil Company as a Main Contractor under Category 119 for Civil Works related to drilling and workover wells — further strengthening our position as one of the most trusted and capable civil contractors supporting Kuwait’s oil and gas sector.

AHL Today

Today, AHL employs more than 300 skilled personnel and operates a fleet of over 250 pieces of construction equipment, enabling us to execute multiple projects simultaneously across Kuwait. We currently provide rig site preparation services for more than 100 drilling and workover rigs, operated by a mix of international and local drilling contractors, alongside our direct contracts with Kuwait Oil Company.

A Landmark Achievement

On 8 February 2025, AHL began one of the most technically challenging and prestigious projects in its history: constructing Rig Location RJ-0001 near the seashore by raising an area of approximately 92,925 square metres by 5 metres to create a stable platform capable of supporting a 3,000 HP drilling rig. Completed on 10 May 2025, the site is now occupied by a Nabors drilling rig — marking the first project of its kind ever executed in Kuwait, and a clear demonstration of AHL’s ability to deliver complex, technically demanding civil engineering projects.
